Heng Wang Yi-Wu's birth on April 27 was a blessing as his parents had wanted a boy after two daughters.
But the joy was shortlived as doctors discovered soon after that he had a heart problem that needed URGENT surgery besides suffering from Down's syndrome.
Heng, who was born two months pre-mature suffers from large Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) also known as a hole-in-the-heart.
His mother, Fong Kwai Kung, 46, said she and her husband, Kiang Seng, 43, needed financial help to send their son for Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre in Ampang.
She said her family could not raise the RM35,000 needed for the operation.
Kiang Seng, 43, earns RM2000 a month as a stationary storekeeper.
Fong said she had been giving full attention to her son since his problem was detected by doctors.
"He is also suffering from pneumonia. He has always had breathing difficulty"
